Artificial Intelligence

The Master's trains artificial intelligence engineers and project managers who can turn a business need into a learning problem, build and govern the data, design, evaluate and deploy models, including for national languages and under computing and connectivity constraints, and ensure that they are operated safely, frugally and in line with the reference ethical and standards frameworks.

Official degree title (in French): Master Intelligence artificielle.

Learning outcomes

  • Turn a business need into an artificial intelligence problem, write the specifications and manage the project through to go-live.
  • Draw on the mathematical and statistical foundations of machine learning and deep learning to design models and check their validity.
  • Build, prepare and govern training data in compliance with Law No. 2008-12 (Personal Data Protection Act), copyright and data sovereignty requirements.
  • Develop applications in natural language processing, including for low-resource national languages, computer vision and generative artificial intelligence.
  • Industrialise, deploy and monitor models frugally, on constrained infrastructure and in low-connectivity settings.
  • Evaluate an artificial intelligence system for performance, fairness, robustness and explainability, and manage its risks.
  • Set up artificial intelligence governance based on ISO/IEC 42001:2023 and ISO/IEC 23894:2023 and on the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

Admission

Who is it for?

  • Working professionals holding a Bachelor's degree who wish to move into specialist or management roles: this is the main target group, for whom the online option and the in-job assignment were designed.
  • Bachelor's graduates in a relevant field continuing their studies.
  • Holders of a relevant maîtrise (four-year degree), eligible for entry into Year 2.

Prerequisites

Applicants are expected to master algorithms and programming in a general-purpose language, relational databases and undergraduate mathematics (linear algebra, calculus, probability), or to commit to acquiring them through the refresher course offered before semester 1. Reading technical documents in English is necessary.
